Janglebox 2

I don't know if this has been discussed yet, but it looks very interesting. Below is a photo and a quote from a thread over at the Gear Page.
Basically, we listened to customers (Muddy suggested many of the upgrades) and pros to create a "JangleBox on steroids".

The thing most touring pros were adamant about was “Don’t crowd all the knobs together on another tiny box!” So we gave the JB2 ample real estate so a nimble size-12 boot could make adjustments on the fly.

We broke out the treble boost ("JangleBoost") as a separate on/off switch and added a separate, adjustable gain. Separate colored LEDs were added to keep things clear on a poorly-lit club stage (or a well-lit arena stage, for that matter!).

Since we were rethinking everything else, we decided to throw on an adjustable EQ.

The JB2 is, in our opinion, one of the most versatile boutique compressors on the market today. You can use it as a straight comp, a clean boost, a treble boost, or a “boost-on-boost.”

What hasn’t changed from the original JB? Our basic approach to expanding the compression “sweet spot.” The beautiful bright ringing chime and clean, even tone. Unsurpassed sustain. True bypass. The rugged die-cast aluminum enclosure.

JB2s will be hand-assembled in the USA, like the original JangleBox. Keep in mind that the JB2 is NOT replacing the JangleBox, which will continue to be our core product. MSRP for the JB2 will be around $285.

Many thanks for your interest and patience!

Thanks for this! I went to the site an listened to the JangleBox clips, sounds amazing. On my radar now! See what the JB2 is compared with the original. Price diff is about $70 I think?

The clips were 12 strings, anyone try a JangleBox with a Ric 6-string?

Peace.

The New JangleBox JB2

We were preparing a January launch, but due to website delays and a tremendous holiday backorder of JangleBoxes (which we're still scrambling to fill), we're delaying until later this month.

But, as the cat is now out of the bag, I'll fill you in a bit about our new product—

For those familiar with the original JangleBox, we kept the same solid, die-cast aluminum construction, and our basic approach to expanding the compression “sweet spot.” You'll get the same beautiful bright, ringing chime and clean, even tone. And, most importantly, the JangleBox commitment to quality build and premium components.

Other specs:
  • • True bypass, like the original JangleBox.
    • Pin negative polarity so it’s compatible with the vast majority of power supplies. NOT like the JangleBox’s pin-positive polarity.
    • Separate EQ controls for treble and bass.
    • The JangleBoost (same as the “Bright” toggle setting on the original JangleBox). It’s now a separate, preset override on/off foot switch.
    • The Level knob controls the JangleBoost gain. We purposely didn’t label it as a second “Gain” so as to avoid confusion.
    • Two different-colored LEDs to indicate when the JangleBoost is activated.
    • The same chip as used in the JangleBox so you get the identical voicing and compression “squish”.
These features were added to the JB2 with a mind toward enhancing live performance. Use it as a straight compressor, a clean boost, a treble boost, or a “boost-on-boost.”

Rather than follow the current trend of increasingly small and cramped pedals, JB2 is a box with ample “real estate” (6.8" long x 4.7" wide x 2.2" deep) so performers can clearly check all knob settings, and make adjustments on the fly while on stage.

Opening retail will be $275. We hope to begin taking orders in the next few weeks.

Dear Santa,
Thank you very much for the sweater. It's very warm and my wife says that it looks really nice on me and the big stripes help hide my growing middle-aged gut. However, a new product has come to my attention, which wasn't yet available for this year's Christmas list. Since I'm pretty sure my mailman was lost in that early December white-out and my previous letter (the one with all the rock and roll equipment and other suitable presents on it) was never delivered to you anyway, do you think I could get a rain-check and possibly qualify for a late February or March delivery? Perhaps you could drop it off on your way to the Bahamas for your vacation. It's pretty small and a single reindeer should have no trouble transporting it. Don't try coming down the chimney again, as it's a fake and you'll end up stuck in the cold air return for the furnace and covered with dust bunnies. Instead, I'll leave the back door open and tell Clifford not to bite anybody wearing a red suit. He may be color-blind, so bring a couple of dog biscuits, just in case. You can leave the package in the music room, next to the big red Rickenbacker (please don't mess with the guitars as they are fragile and last time you left some goo on the strings that looked kind of like that white stuff inside oreos). Since you're officially off duty, I'll see if I can find a beer in the fridge and I'll leave it on the table. Might have some beef jerky, too, if Clifford doesn't find it first. I await your arrival with great excitement.
your friend,
Todd

Gee, I dunno.....I'll keep the original JB, and might think about doing the Rick-O-Sound thing with JB2; one unit on the bridge pickup, the other unit on the neck pickup.

A gadget freak's delight! What fun!

Reminds me of a couple of years ago I bought a Mac G5 about five months before the Mac Pro was released. (Or was it the iPod Nano?) No trade-in there, either.

Seriously, like any other product, you need to consider what's best for your playing needs. The JB2 was designed for enhanced live performance versatility. On the other hand, if you typically just turn on your JB, flip the toggle and play straight away, there's no particular need to step up to the J2.

Much as I'd like everyone to buy a new JB2, both the JB and JB2 have their unique qualities regarding size, features and price point. That's why we're going to continue manufacturing both boxes.

And, of course, a big reason to hang on to your JB even if you buy a JB2, is that you'll be able to try that double-compression technique that Roger McGuinn uses with his JangleBoxes for recording. 8)

Yes, we ship to the UK frequently. Not quite as many as Canada, though.

On the original JangleBox. I assume it comes with a power adapter? What are the unit's dimensions?

Peace.

The JangleBox does not come with an adapter. In fact, it requires a pin-positive polarity adapter, which, truthfully, is something of an oddball among most pedals. (It's a long story). We'll be offering pin-pos adapters for sale on our website when we relaunch, I hope sometime in the new few weeks.

Regarding comparative sizes:
JangleBox in inches: 4.33 long x 3.23 wide x 1.58 deep.
JB2 in inches: 6.8 long x 4.7 wide x 2.2 deep.
