Not to hijack but ...
I lived in and around Poughkeepsie for almost ten years. (I wasn't playing then.)
Everyone from New York City calls that area "upstate." Yet, if anyone else in the world looked at a map they would see that Dutchess County is almost at the very southern tip of New York State. And, in fact, one of the prisons in Dutchess is called Downstate Correctional.
