Wanted to Buy - 70's SVT

Hey folks, I know it's a bit off topic, but I'm just wondering if anybody might be selling, or knows someone who might be selling a 70's Ampeg SVT head. I had one a few years ago, and I've been kicking myself since I sold it!! They're pretty rare over here, and the ones that are already here don't often come up for sale. Any help at all would be appreciated.
cheers, jc

You missed out on a deal a few weeks ago. There was an early '70s SVT in Canada that used to belong to Geddy Lee that sold for $1500!

I have been thinking about maybe selling mine; it's massive overkill for the clubs the band plays anyway...but - as much it'd cost to ship that to Australia it may not be feasible.

Have you any idea of what service would deliver that size/weight package to your country?

Shipping companies (such as flying cargo, etc...) might do it and it shouldn't be that expensive.
I am a sucker for Tannoy speakers and I bought 3 extra dual-concentric speakers for my HT system (I now have 7.1 system + extra center speaker), these are heavy beasts (25KG boxed for an 8" speaker...!!!)
I paid a very cheap price for shipping them over from the UK to Israel. These companies do shipping consolidation (they buy bulk space on a cargo plane/ship and resell it).

The minus is that there is a lot of overhead (extra fees like fuel surcharge, security surcharge, paperworks, storage, etc...) that is not necessarily volumetric related (size/weight), basically it starts from ~$100, but every KG costs something like $2-4
Just for a reference, I was quoted less than $400 for a shipment of an SVT head + SVT 8x10 cabinet from Chicago to Israel.

Thanks for your replies guys. I imported one a few years back, and basically shopped around and got the best price-not exactly cheap, but within budget. Gil, do you remember what company you got that quote from?
I saw the Geddy SVT Jeff, very nice indeed, and great pedigree.

It was a local company.
These companies usually work with businesses that import/export goods, they ship the package for you but you have to pay all surcharges and of course - pay their customs clerk for releasing the package for you.
A big international brand would be "flying cargo"
Some local brands of freight companies I managed to find for you:

Thanks Gil, much appreciated. I'll check them out. I'm hoping one of them might be cheaper than fedex...

Much cheaper, freight companies are used to ship entire households when people relocate.
They ship their kitchens, living room furniture, entire bedrooms, etc...
The amp head is a bit small for them, but if they don't do it - ask if they know any company that deals with private imports.
