Mangan strings

Has anyone here heard of or even tried Curt Mangan strings? I just put a set of Mangan Nickel Rounds on my 4004C and I have to say they feel and sound pretty good. They are a bit stiffer than my usual DRs so I had to add a little tension to the truss rods. They appear to be very nicely made. Nice polish. I have never seen them before and decided to give them a go. Anyone else?

Yes, using them for over a year on my 4001 basses. They work great for my needs; reasonably priced, bright classic kinda Yes or Rush tone, and they stay that way for a good long time. Not as bright as Rotos but longer lasting, and I think they'll be easier on frets as well.

I'm doing a comparison of these with DR lowriders, another one I seem to like.

If I had, or ever get a new 4003, I'd particularly like the idea that they are the same sizes as factory strings, which is great for people reluctant to enlarge nut slots on otherwise unmolested mint instruments. I'd stick with either genuine factory strings or Curt Mangans.

I briefly tried a set of their 80/20 Bronze strings on my Larrivée LV-19 but they sounded a bit harsh and metallic/brittle to me, so off they came. I have never tried their bass strings.

So far so good. I usually don't like stiffer strings but these feel OK to me.

Acoustic strings seem so much harder to select. I have heard some that are very harsh and others that have no bite at all. I like them to be somewhere in the middle. Fortunately I don't change the strings on my acoustics very often. --of course I don't play them all that much either :)

I use them on my 06 4003, and on my 08 70's jazz bass and like them very much.

I just picked up some on the advise of a friend and so far I'm loving them. I like both the feel and sound. I got flats for my fret less and nickel wound for my 4001.

I have only just learned about them. A friend owns a guitar shop and recently started carrying them. I thought I would give 'em a go. The setup pretty nicely on the Cheyenne so I might try another set on one of my other Ricks.
