That "Family Guy" scene shows Paul on his Höfner (drawn accurately), George on his Gretsch (drawn accurately) and John on something that could be his RM 1996 (it's drawn so bad, I don't know what it is). Are Ric's that hard to draw?

I hadn't noticed that.... there's a lot of detail in Paul and George's but not so for John's. Well, after debating whether or not they should do flatwounds or roundwounds, the whole thing just exploded into an argument and they went another way with it.

Beatles History Update
- It's a little known historical fact that George Martin actually wanted Ringo
to replace George Harrison as The Beatle's lead guitarist. However at the
last minute Harrison slipped a mickey into Pete Best's rum&coke and Pete's
inevitable slopiness deflected the producer's attention away from the issue of who would play guitar.
Martin was then going to go with Andy White as the regular studio drummer until
Ringo viciously attacked White in The Abbey Road side alley, breaking the session man's left leg
in three places.
- Ringo is still in a fighting mood (as can be seen by the expression on his face)
in this famous photo where his bandmates try desperately to calm him down.
Recent forensic tests have proved that the stain on the step is actually blood
from Andy White's shattered leg. [see arrow]
- George and Ringo later settled the matter of who would play lead guitar in a titanic brawl that took place on the floor of EMI Studio 2 (refereed by Mal Evans). Although George suffered a black eye, Ringo was knocked out in the 7th round and was forced to accept the drummers seat.
The rest, as they say, is history.

I've never understood the dissing of Ringo. His timing is impecable (Petty says he's a freakin' metronome), his style is instantly recognizable, his fills are unique, and as the article says, he played the many styles J,P & G threw at him easily. I think he has the best hi-hat hand in the history of the world.

Good point. I remember one Beatles reviewer who said "while Ringo banged artlessly in the background". I'm a big fan of Ringo's drumming (not so his singing), but having said that I've noticed that a lot of his live stuff was much cruder than the studio recordings. I guess this is understandable given the wild screaming where the Fabs were struggling just to hear themselves....
