Here are three examples with a twist:

Mandonna, an all-male Madonna tribute band
The Iron Maidens, an all-female band
Mini Kiss, a little person band

Hayseed Dixie - originally a bluegrass band that played only AC/DC covers. They've branched out on the material, to the point of doing a bluegrass version of "I don't feel like Dancing" by the Scissor Sisters, and "Holidays in the Sun" by the Pistols.

I've heard of a couple of Byrds tribute bands:
Byrdbrains, and another one called Mockingbyrds

And if that weren't enough, why there ought to be one from Kansas called the Jaybyrds (the KU mascot is the Jayhawk). Eh...maybe that's too many.

Bent Brother is actually Twisted Sister without make-up. They started using that name a few years back when some contractual issues were coming up about them using their own name.

Mini-Kiss doesn't really play their instruments.

I do a Motorhead tribute band: Capricorn USA as noted in my signature below.

Others locally:
AC/DC - Big Balls - singer sounds and drinks EXACTLY like Bon Scott
Judas Priest - Sad Wings (featuring Jason McMaster)
Iron Maiden - Drifter
Ozzy - Suicide Solution
Alice In Chains - Love Hate Love (fantastic tribute band)
AC/DC - Hells Belles (all female tribute with a phenomenal guitarist)

Lee, singer from Big Balls, is a good friend and a GREAT drinker! Back in my drinking days he let me crash at his house on several ocassions.

Phlemmy, no mention of The Eggmen, or OUCH!? :o

One of my fave local trib bands is The Lowelies(Nick Lowe).

Sorry man! I haven't seen you guys play yet so it wasn't on my mind. Yeah, Lee is a great guy. His wife is sweet too.

My friend 'Ugo the Peruvian' and I have a couple of tribute bands in the early planning/rehearsing stage (and I'm not joking about this!...well, of course I'm always joking, but we really are working on this)...a three-piece Beatles 'tribute' called Paul's Dead, and a brand new concept: a ZZTop 'tribute' called Tres Pendejos...

Red Rocks, here we come...

Thanks, phlem'...knew ya would! Our first tune's gonna be an up-tempo, polka'd-out Tejano version of Mexican Blackbird...

(oompah-oompah-oompah)"If youre down in acuna and you ain't up to being alone..."(insert mariachi trumpet line here)...

You probably won't believe this but my old punk band did just that as a joke in the early 80s!

Oh, (probably) wouldn't I???

"Great minds think alike"...

I really think the band name will sell itself, tho'...just imagine seeing it on a marquee...
