Sgt. Pepper 4 Track Master

Anybody have any info on this?

"When the separated master four-track recordings of a handful of Sgt. Pepper’s tracks surfaced in late 2007, Purple Chick quickly added yet another volume to its already comprehensive chronicle of the album. It can do so quickly because its releases are virtual, shared on the Internet via torrent, blogs and file sharing services, many of which are difficult to police at best."

Thanks...

I have this. It's SPLHCB, WALHFMF,She's Leaving Home and ADITL split up into 4 tracks. Probably done for the "Love" mastering. It's actually quite awesome - If you have a multitrack system like Pro-tools you can remix them, and the seperation is cool. Paulie's rocking vocal on SP, isolated without music, is quite impressive.

Yes, I have that one, also. It hadn't occurred to me to try a remix, though. It's interesting enough listening as is, and Giles Martin I'm definitely not

I just picked up a new "Collector's Edition" LP (yes, an LP!) of the entire Sgt. Pepper album in remixed alternate form. It's on green vinyl, really nicely packaged. The front cover is the famous cover photo, but uncropped, and the inside gatefold is the original painting by The Fool that was commissioned for the album by the Beatles. (I can see why they didn't use it!) I imagine it probably stems from the leak of the four track masters. SPLHCB is rawer and goes on for longer, With A Little Help From My Friends lacks the bass track and lasts longer, When I'm 64 lacks the clarinets, A Day in the Life lacks the strings, The Reprise goes on for longer, and so on. She's Leaving Home sounds great, with a little alternate Paul harmony starting at "quietly turning the backdoor key..." and a little extra cello after the choruses. I've only had a chance to listen to it all the way through once so far, and some of the songs (like Fixing A Hole or Being For the Benefit of Mr. Kite) may have been remixed but not obviously. Maybe just alternate stereo remixes from the Sgt. Pepper era.

I have this too. It's cool but kinda lo-fi.
