I bought a One-Spot power supply so that I could make a little pedalboard .Is the the right order to put them in them?

Guitar > Compressor>Reverb>Distortion(1)>Distortion(2)>amp

or would you put the compressor after the reverb?

Guitar > compressor > distortion 1 > distortion 2 > reverb > amp

Or in my case: guitar > wah > compressor > distortion 1 > distortion 2 > distortion 3 > EQ > echo > chorus > amp

Yeah, compressor early in the chain so it can work with a so-called "pure" signal.

I think John B is the "pedal master". Perhaps he can chime in. I don't know the answer myself. I rarely if ever, use them.

How about putting a tuner in the #1 position?

Guitar > Compressor>Reverb>Distortion(1)>Distortion(2)>amp

The reverb should definitely last. That way you aren't distorting the reverb, you're having an overdriven signal reverbed...

Best case scenario - The Reverb goes in the FX loop.

I do that when I don't plug it into the effects loop. Then it works as a kill switch too.

How do you use an effects loop on an amp? I have a couple of Peavey 212 Stereo Chorus amps that have that feature. Obviously I have never used it.

The effects loop consists of a send jack and a return jack which grab the signal and loop it (usually) after the preamp (or between two preamps) and before the power amp. Mostly used with rack mount effects, it can be used for floor pedals as well, the difference being that the input jack comes before the preamp (duh) while the effects loop follows it.

Still in the dark unforunately on this. OK let's ask the question from a different angle. What is the purpose of an effects loop?

When I occasionally use an out board effect I plug my guitar into it and plug the effect into the jack in my amp. That's how it was done in the 60's. I guess I don't use outboard effects enough to know why the technology changed.

Basically, the effects loop is generally for effects that you don't want to go through the EQ. Generally, Reverb pedals and time based effects (such as delays) go through the Effect loops.

Ah, that makes sense. Your guitar gets EQ'd but the effect comes in after that.

Thanks for the clarification Nic. Your assistance is very much appreciated. The feature makes sense to me now. I realise that it may have seemed like an odd question to ask so late in the game but I was never curious enough to find out how it was used before.

On Peavey amps, the "pre amp out" jack is your send, and your "power amp in" is the return. Generally, the rule of thumb is not to put any distortion/fuzz/boost type effects, or wah wahs through the loop, as they can sound very harsh and squeal like a stuck pig. Reverbs, delays, and modulation effects(chorus/flange/phase) are the usual choice. This way, the modulation effects sound more clear and clean, as they aren't in the chain before the preamp.

The loop allows the signal to exit the amp after the preamp, and return to it before the power amp.

BTW, if you have an amp with an effects loop that is cutting out on you, take a patch cable and plug it in to the send and return jacks(or patch an effect through it). Sometimes these stereo jacks can go bad, and by putting the cable in the send and return jacks, you may save yourself a big repair bill to replace a 6 dollar jack, or get you through a gig.
