Paul Atkinson came up in the Hollies discussion earlier, so I figured I'd start a new thread with some cool 1997 footage.

Those actual live clips are incredible. There was some silent early concert footage (circa early '65/late '64) in a recent Swedish documentary, I think about the Odessey and Oracle album. Wish there was more of that!

Nice "Schlitz - Breakfast of Champions" sweatshirt! I bet they couldn't get away with that on English language television! Thanks for posting those clips.

You're right about the Schlitz shirt. I don't care what time period it is, someone's gotta explain French television to me. I still love the Zombs. And those Ricks are great too.

Being a huge "O&O" fan, I went to a couple of the recent Zombies performances and man that was good stuff.

Got to shake hands with both Rod and Colin afterwards. What warm, humble people.

They are one of my favourite bands from the 60's. Their mix of jazz, R&B and pop was infectious and brilliant. I loved their sound back then and and I am happy to be able to say that it has stood the test of time. I recently saw Rod and Colin play on a program along with a few other touring 60's acts. They were fantastic. They have not lost a step at all.

The Zombs were the only British Invasion band that I can think of that wasn't guitar based (that darned Argent guy). Their stuff has always been hard for me to play. One of my favorite guilty pleasures is Just Out of Reach. I highly recommend the box set which has a lot of BBC stuff.

Our band just tacked on Tell Her No to She's Not There. I could hit the trifecta if I could get them to add Time of the Season.

Paul Atkinson has been a huge influence on me.
His economy matched that of George Harrison and his licks were always perfect.

Love the Zombies!

Here are a few pictures at Abbey Road recording O&O (supposedly "Time of the Season," more specifically), courtesy of Rod Argent's site:

That bass in the second shot almost looks like a slab P-bass like what Entwistle was playing.

Looks like it has a dark tortoise shell guard...wait! On second look, it's not even a bass, it's a piano! Between Chris White and Peter Quaife, I'm not sure what instrument it is anymore

Interesting, looks like Chris' P-bass ended up in the hands of Jim Rodford of Argent, which I suppose isn't too odd given Argent's lineage!

I'm guessing that bass was modified and ended up being what Rodford used later on with Argent (later with a larger pickguard).
Hopefully it wasn't turned into the bottom half of that double-necked Strat/P-Bass contraption Rodford had (though I'm guessing it was :()
