Here's a cover of a Steely Dan song I've always wanted to play...with a 72 4001. :)

You *******! I've been wanting to cover this song for years! I probably will one day, and it'll be interesting to compare versions. You did a great job reproducing Becker's guitar work. Awesome job all around!

I LOVE it when you call me a *******! Can I buy you a drink, big boy? 8)

Thanks Mark. Faking Skunk Baxter's pedal steel work was what almost made me turn back and do "Any Major Dude" instead...it was really daunting, until I figured out a new trick: I played my Strat one string at a time, without a slide, just bending notes on the frets. So each string had its own track. Then I went in and applied fade-ins to a lot of the initial plucks. It took a long time, but it worked out pretty well. But man I wish I had a real pedal steel and knew how to play it...probably my favorite sound in a rock song...love it on this album, and with Pink Floyd, Neil Young...just a cool instrument that can sound a lot of different ways other than the traditional country or Hawaiian thing.

Thanks Mark!

Wow! I wouldn't have guessed that so much effort went into achieving the pedal steel sound. You make it sound easy!

Mark, How can you be that... i thought you're parents were married...? The slide is cool, considering it wasn't a slide. I never would have guessed, would have been cool even if it were a real pedalsteel. I like your version, that was one of my faves from SD. MarkW get busy and we could have the forum version of the Zoolander walk-off!
