I watched this with my girlfriend this morning.I thought it was going to be like "Beethoven" not "Old Yeller"! Watching your beloved pet grow up is cute and fun.Watching him grow old and become ill is not.Then having to be at his bedside while he is (slowly)put to death by lethal injection is excruciatling painful. That is not even the end because you still have to take him home, wrap him in a blanket and bury him with his toys ... and poems your kids wrote ... and I am just gonna start bawlin right now...I hate this movie...hate it

I didn't read the book...I certainly won't watch the movie.

Want to know why I already hate it? I have a labrador...........and it's name is Marley. .....now it looks like I named her after the film, bah! Guess it doesn't make chronological sense anyways (the dog is 5 years old..)

I'll be really broken up when Fido passes away ...

I agree Mitch, losing a dog is a horrible experience. Knowing the ending, I've made a point of staying away from Marley & Me - I don't think I could sit through it.

I went to Blockbuster tonite and while I was at the counter I pickup the Marley&Me DVD box in the dissplay stand.The saleman behind the counter smiles at me and says "That's a cute film" I think he was a little taken aback when I replied "Yeah,but the ending was brutal".I doubt that he actually saw the movie.

I had the great misfortune of taking Creative Writing I with a really dumb girl who thought Marley and Me was the greatest piece of literature ever made. Here I was trying to study magical realism and this girl was raving over a book about a cute puppy. THAT is why I hate this movie.

OK, scratch that movie off the "Must See" list. Yeah, I cry at movies. But I ain't gonna let you numpties see me do that.

Thanks for starting this thread. This was in our queue...now it's not. I have buried dogs in the past, and have three I will probably out live. The trailers make it look like fun and games.

I still remember how bad "Old Yeller" made me feel when I saw it in the theater when I was a child.

Old Yeller was like the "man's" version of this story......at least that one ended with a grimace and a shotgun

Hmmmm, just because a movie makes you feel bad doesn't mean the movie is bad. I wasn't going to see it but it sounds powerful and now I think I will.

Well,just to warn you,at about the midway point in the film my girlfriend said "They shouldn't have called this film "Marley and Me",they should have called it "Jennifer Aniston and Me" .
