I recently bought this fine example of a 660/12 TP on eBay. It's # 804 of 1000 (manufactured in Sept. of 1995). I think the seller may be a forumite (Chris from San Diego,CA). The guitar and vintage case are in near-mint condition. Now I understand the beauty of this instrument: the hotter toasters, wider 12-string neck, birds-eye maple, twelve-saddle bridge. I now own a semi-hollow RIC 12-string and a solid-body. I'm enjoying the unique characteristics of each guitar.

Sweet! I bought my 660/12TP FG from Freedom Guitar in San Diego way back when (2000 or 2001? - darn memory!.

Congrats Ron! In my view the 660/12 (with our without the TP) is one of RIC's very finest.

I supppose there could be a difference in the sound of the toasters, though, between a 1995 and a 2008 660/12 build.

Both came from 12th Fret in Toronto.

Nice job, Ron! The 660/12TP is an awesome instrument with that Petty vibe to it, but sadly, I had to sell mine because I needed money and have been converted to hollowbodies. Plus, the body felt too small on me. They were fun instruments, though!

How does that baby sound with compression?

First, in response to Ron O'Keefe's post: I sold my regular 660/12 AFG on eBay to make room for the TP. That regular production 660/12 was a temporary "fix" until securing the TP....a fine guitar, but the Petty is over the top. I really like the sound of the hotter toasters on the TP.

Second, in response to Jake's post: The TP sounds awesome with compression (I run my RIC 12's thru an MXR M-132 Supercomp, Dunlop Manufacturing)...imparts loads of sustain.

To my ears the solid body provides more sustain to the overall sound, whereas the semi-hollows (360's and/or 370's) impart more "attack". That is to say, the semi-hollows, in my opinion, articulate notes and chords more clearly, especially when arpeggiating chords.

Right now I have RIC compressed wound strings on my TP. I'd like to try the Thomastik flatwounds next string change.

RLR12's.......She's a beaut, Ron. Props to you on your new acquisition. What's the first TP song you played on it? I'm sure you won't have any trouble developing beaucoup mojo for it. Keep on keepin' on, brotha.......Goofyfoot.

Very nice TP and Bass. I really like the shading on your TP fireglo....nice dark red on outer edges of body!

The very first thing I play when I acquire any RIC 12 is the opening cord of "A Hard Day's Night". I then jump into "I Feel A Whole Lot Better", including the guitar break.

The RIC TP is a fine player, and I'm enjoying the nuances of a solid-body RIC 12 vs the semi-hollow RIC 12's (I also own a 370/12 RM and a 360/12 V64).
