Yes, thank you. I was just wondering if anyone here had bought one of these, and what their opinions were of it when used with their Ricks. I find it hard to get a compressor that doesn't make you sound like the king of new country, or depersonalize the dynamics to the point of it making very little difference which guitar you happen to be playing.
I bought a Janglebox a few years back, and for my 360/12FGVP, I couldn't ask for a better sound. ROSing the guitar through 2 different channels, Janglebox on 1, nothing on the other, had the cool effect of blending the 2 sounds together to get some bass back. I've seen this pedal for a little over a year, and was curious how it would work in blending back the original signal.
Seymour Duncan just came out with a pedal called the "Double Back Compressor". It's a VGA circuit with a "double back"(blend type) control, volume, attack, and sustain. It also has a 3 way selector to designate which frequencies you want blended back in-high-mids-all. Mine just arrived in the mail from my favorite online big music store-Sweetwater-and if it's a dog, I get to send it back and get a full refund.
I just plugged my 330FGVP in to it and was quite impressed. The high switch engaged and the sustain turned up really works well, and can really aid in getting controlled feedback if you're looking for that "Who/Jam" kind of thing. I like this pedal for that, but really need to try it out on several other of my guitars, next being the 360/12FGVP. I plugged my 4003AFG in to it for giggles, but found none. I will say their claim of this being extremely quiet is on the money, and the tonal range is quite nice. True bypass is also an added plus.
I'm still on the fence with this thing, as I own a few compressors and really have to see if I can justify keeping it. My Janglebox is great for what it does, and my other compressors aren't bad for what they do, so I have some real work ahead of me here. After I give a few of girls a whirl here, I should be able to give a more in depth review,as well as make a decision. It's gonna be tough, as I really want to get one of those new Vox AC4s, and the money I spent on this gizmo would get me there as soon as somebody has them in stock for more than a few hours.
Anybody else have one and wanna chime in?
