Oddball 620?

I found this guitar advertised as a '1990's 620' and two things immediately stood out. The neck is not the standard 620 neck and it also has no visible binding. I don't recall seeing one like this before, was this common for 90's 620's or is this some sort of Frankenbacker?

I think this is a 610. The main differences, as far as I can remember, are no binding, dot neck, and no ric-o-sound. Other than that it's pretty close to a 620.
Still a cool guitar!

I prefer the 610 to the 620 - just like I prefer a 4003S to a 4003. There is an understated elegance to the dot-neck no-binding models.

Not odd at all...
As has been said a 610 in a very nice fireglow.
I have a 91 JG 610, and it sounds great!

+1, not to mention they're more comfortable as well.

Thanks everyone, I'm not that familiar with some of the discontinued models. Any guesses as to what it would be worth, or is that a better topic for the Appraisals forum? Asking price is $1400 (CDN).

In Canadian funds that seems wee bit high but still fair... Although with the ebay drought the last one I tracked went for $900 US. (But with the guitar being in Canada you avoid the currancy exchange and UPS extortion)...
They hit me again by the way. I bought 4 packs of RIC guitar stings for $55... UPS charged $40.50 in Brokerage fees.
Had the seller shipped USPS, Canada post would not have changed more then $7...
Sigh. When will they ever learn? When will they ever learn...
As I said I own a 610 and I enjoy it very much. You should give it a spin and see what you think...

Oh and Dave here is the 1992 RIC Catalog page showing the 610's and 620's.

- From the 1992 Rickenbacker Catalog
PS - I've been trying to make my 610 look like the one pictured - It is now halfway there, I still need to change the tuners and the pickup covers to finish the job.

+2, at least asthetically (sp?) - although I haven't yet bonded with them as players. Fingers crossed.

The 610 is a great guitar with many usable tone settings and the best neck Ric has offered outside of perhaps the 850. Ya got a dandy guitar there feller!
