Hi all,
Can anyone recommend a good tech who works on 4001/4003 basses in the Portland Oregon area?
Specifically, I have a neck adjustment that I need made, and I would prefer to take the bass to someone who has lots of experience with these models.
In the past I have taken my 4001 to 12th Fret, but frankly for the price was not too impressed.
Thanks in advance,
-Loren

Dale Fortune is in Aloha Oregon. He used to work for Rickenbacker in the '70's. He did some work on my V63 and did an OUTSTANDING job.

Hey Loren,
I live in Corvallis.
Would dig meeting up with you, half way, Woodburn, Aurora, Wilsonville, Tualatin, whatever. (Not At The Rest Stop!)
I'll bring all the tools and maybe some Black Butte Porter and show you how to do it for yourself.
We'll set it up together.
It would be best if you brought a new set of strings to put on it.
No Charge!
I've had my '72 4001 sence 1983. I've owned three different '74 4001's and I've been baby-sitting an '81 4001 for about fourteen years.
I'll bring my Ricks and my Alembic (it's a double truss rod bass also, I've had it for about twelve years).
Let me know what you think.

If its just a truss rod adjustment the guys at 12th fret do those for free.
They are expensive, but they do the work correctly on just about everything. They have no shortage of business so they must be doing something right. Their prices are actually in line with what a good luthier would charge for work. I know several that charge more than they do in the area.
If I had more free time I'd love to meet up with fellow RIC owners in the area......but I'm still looking for work.

Wow, thanks all for the feedback, and thanks Garret for the too kind offer!
I actually took the 4001 into 12th Fret. I will report back to the group when I pick it up.
Now, I am still open to the idea of an Oregon Rick jamboree! Garret, I actually travel down to Corvallis fairly often to take my son to Pokémon tournaments, so I will definitely get in touch before the next one of those. I'll bring the Black Butte and my Rick and we can compare notes!
