Love Street Light Circus

Love Street (http://www.lovestreetlightcircus.org) is a combo of band and 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in Houston. Our band does several things: (1) plays benefit shows, whether of our own making or someone else's, (2) plays to fundraise for the organization, (3) promotes the organization and (4) plays children's hospitals. The organization's broad mission is to promote volunteerism in the local music community to benefit children's charities. Among other things, we recruit musicians to perform as part of a regular music series we put on at children's hospitals (currently Shriners Hospital and Texas Children's Hospital).
A couple of cool gigs our band has had:
White Album for Purple Songs - we assembled about 70 musicians, including an orchestra, to perform the entire Beatles' White Album. The event raised $10,000 for the Purple Songs Can Fly music program at Texas Children's Cancer Center. The set list I expect you can figure out. There are several videos on our YouTube channel - http://www.youtube.com/lovestreetlightcirc
The Rooftop Show - on January 30, 2009, we grabbed a generator and climbed a ladder (with our gear!) to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the Beatles' rooftop show. We threw in some other songs for good measure. The local newspaper did a nice video on it, which is on our website.
Upcoming:
We are playing a benefit in nearby Tomball, TX on June 19 called RAINN Over Houston (http://www.rainnoverhouston.com). We'll be playing the entire Rubber Soul album.
In case you can't tell, we like the Beatles a lot. But we are not a Beatles tribute band. At our gig next week (a promo event with local radio station K-HIts at Sam's Boat in Clear Lake), about half the set will be Beatles. The rest is a combo of 60s stuff and stuff we plucked off the station's playlist.
And in case you are wondering about the name...it comes from an old Houston music club from the 60s. It was in the building where we played the rooftop and was founded by artist David Adickes, whom you may know from his giant Beatles sculptures. http://www.flickr.com/photos/mikemcguff ... 89/detail/
