Is there any way to tell the difference between bass toasters from the 60's from the ones in the early 70's?

I was just offered a 60's bass toaster for a decent price and I want to be an educated consumer.

The earlier '60s toasters have molded circles at the ends of the "toaster slots" black bars, similar to the ones on modern scatterwound toasters. The toasters on my February '67 4005WB do not have these, although, as with all things Rickenbacker, that may not necessarily indicate a cut-off date of that style.

I'm sure others more knowledgeable will chime in.

I know the late 50's and early 60's ones had those circles like you mentioned. This one does not but he did say it was late 60's so I guess there is nothing to grab onto there.

Should it have 4 poles or 6 poles for a bass?

They all have 6

Yes, there is no such thing as a 4 magnet toaster, at least not one that came from Rickenbacker.

Do you know the DC resistance of the toaster in question?

Don't know the resistance. They were all long pole toasters at the neck, not short ones, right?

The mold rings in all toasters went away around late summer/early fall of 1964.

From what I have read here in the past, there were short pole and even flat bottomed toasters in the neck position. Both of my '67s, a 330 and the 4005WB have short pole toasters in the neck position.

And when Kevin added a neck toaster to his '69 4000 it needed the short poles to fit the existing rout.
