I'm sure this is probably a remedial question, but the 330 12 and the 360v64 12 appears to basically the same accept for the modern treatments (i.e frets, PU's, etc.). Structurally is it effectively the same? I only ask cuz I would love to be able to buy a Harrison re-issue, but it's not a reasonable option for me just now. Am I wrong about this?

A V64 is a reissue of the 360 OS (old style) model. the 330 and 360 models used to have the same body shape prior to 1965-66. The 330 was a standard model, meaning, no binding, dot inlays, and mono output jack only. The 360 model was a deluxe models, meaning binding on both sides of the body, binding on the neck, triangle inlays, and dual output jacks-stereo (Rick O Sound), and mono.

the V64 and the 330 have the same body shape, but all Rick guitars went to 24 fret necks at some point in the 1970s, so a modern 330 will have 24 frets, while the V64 will have 21 frets, in addition to all of the deluxe features of a double bound body, bound neck, dual inputs, and triangle inlays. It will also have the vintage style "toaster" pickups, albeit most likely of the hot "12K variety, as opposed to the newer and more vintage/period correct lower 7.4K output of the newer toaster pickups. the V64 also has a period correct squared off neck heel where it joins the body.

I'm not sure how the guitars are different structurally. I think they're made the same as modern Ricks, IIRC, except for the number of frets. IIRC it wasn't until the 360/12 C63 that the vintage reissues were internally "X" braced the way the original 60s models were.

I've probably confused you completely by now, sorry...I was hoping to clear things up. Oops.

Yep. Confused the heck out of me...I thought the input was on the amplifier...

360v64 = Mercedes S Class



Both 4 door sedans.....both get the job done well.......one is just a bit more..... deluxe.

That analogy work for ya? They are both great and get the job done, but one is certainly nicer (and more expensive) than the other. One is a great workhorse, the other, a prized collectible....knowwhatimean,vern?



ps....if you can swing the money, buy a V64. They are incredibly good guitars, you won't be dissapointed.

C'mon now . It's one of the most loved, best selling cars of all time. Well-built, reliable and runs forever ....it's not like it's an insult, even if it's not exactly like a Rickenbacker. (I could have said yugo ! That would have been an insulting lie though, eh? )

The V64 is pretty damn awesome, I'd go for that, but I'm a sucker for the vintage reissues.

Basically, I really want a rick 12, and in the immediate future I think the 330 is in my stars, also with the toaster cover mod ric330 posted I could probably be pretty happy with the looks of it.

(Besides, with a 330 I could probably swing a hollow body 6 string rick early next year )

The 330's 24 frets is a deal breaker for me. I was able to pick up a 360V64/12 last year for $1750 when the economy was still alright. Keep your eyes peeled and I'm sure you can find a deal.

Nope, "accept" in the OP, instead of "except". Two words which can have opposite meanings in some uses.

My favorite confusing use is one I've seen repeatedly on Ebay:

"We except Paypal"

...which means the opposite of "We accept Paypal".
