Hey guys,
I just got my first ric a few weeks ago (a 2008 lh 360FG) and I definitely want to make sure I take the best care possible.

I'm in the DC-area so we get a lot of humidity in the summer. Wondering if you could tell me your preferred ways of dealing with humidity in the summer and the dryness in the winter. I store my guitar in the case, but other than that I want to see what methods are recommended. Thank you!

In the desert, we unfortunately do not have a problem of high humidity. So I use these...

... so I can do this:
If I put my instruments in cases, they tend to not get used. on most days I run two tanks of water (one in the a.m., a refill at night) to keep the humidity at 34-35% if I am lucky. Unless we get a weak storm front come through and I can get it jacked up to 45%.

Above all, I simply try to avoid this:

I keep my instruments upstairs where I have two dehumidifiers (one at each end of the house) that I run in the summer and a single humidifier that I run in the winter (closer to where the guitars are). I aim for 35% relative humidity (it gets pretty humid in East Tennessee in the summers, too). I understand from a post by Mr. Hall that 35% is ideal for maple instruments. I keep most of the instruments in the cases, but usually one or two are out in stands so I can play them without a lot of set-up time. We have 5 of us living in the house, so all the showers probably add to the humidity, too.
