Being Born in Scotland....

I've always chuckled about that quote of Derek Taylor on the Plastic Ono Band "Live Peace in Toronto" album

"Being Born in Scotland Carries with it Certain Responsibilities...."
Can Scotty or anyone else elaborate on this quote ?? What are those "responsibilities..." and is there any connection with the Toronto event ??

Or was it just another manifestation of John's wit ?

Regards
Rich F.

Ive no idea about that quote maybe this is why the album failed to chart as maybe the Scots where bamboozled by it.I know i am  Ive no idea Rich what do you think it means? Apart from being cold and wet I see Scotland as just a place no different to any other places in the world.Responsibilities everyone has,Its just the different levels of responsibility that makes people different.
Jeff how rude eating popcorn over the keyboard! :D

Heck, just being of Scottish descent carries with it certain responsibilities. For example, I am bound to punch Dr. David Starkey square in his effete mouth for what he recently said: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/scotland/8016440.stm

My family's history goes back into prehistory in Bonny Scotchland (along with Corbett, my surname Riddell is the oldest written name in Scottish records).

Still not sure what John Lennon might have meant though!

Let me know if you find out, please. My great-grandmother was born in Glasgow and it may explain a few things that I don't understand about my family

Dr. David Starkey is quite a rude individual with nothing to offer.

Now the Right Honorable Gentlemen have a responsibility to have to keep the debate civilized, and in a manner we are accustomed to, having watched Prime Minister's Questions on TV over the years.
