I have just heard the Head East's "Never Been Any Reason" fore the millionth time and realized that the bass solo in it sounds very familiar as far as the tone is concerned. Would that be a Rick on this recording? Does anyone know anything about it?

I had always though it was a Ricky too, but some time ago it was established here on the forum that it was a Precision.I've always thought one of the singers on the song sounded a lot like Geddy lee too.

Yeah, I think I was the one who brought up this question a few years ago, and everyone seemed to think it was a Fender. Sure sounds like a Rick to me, but then nearly all of Geddy's stuff sounds like it's still on a Rick, so I'm sure it has a lot more to do with technique and recording settings than it does the actual instrument.

I saw them in a club back in the day.
At that show he played a sunburst Fender Precision with a maple neck, black guard, and dimarzio Model P pickup through what looked like an Ampeg SVT.
It sounded really good.
