Straps/Polish

Hi everyone. I have 2 questions regarding my '08 4003 JG (all stock parts). I'm extremely protective of it (as a Rick owner should be!) and was wondering:
a. What is (are) the best polish(es) for the body and fingerboard to keep its glorious shine, and
b. What is the best strap to use on a 4003?
Thanks,
Marc

a. Scratch X polishing compound and Zymol Cleaner Wax seem to be the popular polishes around here'
b. The stock Rickenbacker straps (available at the online Rickenbacker boutique at the corporate site) work great, are made of nice leather, and are a great value for money. Extra long too, if necessary.

Perfect. Thank you for your help. I was also wondering how the Fender straps would hold up on a Rickenbacker since they are also aesthetically pleasing to the eyes. Also, the wax would work on the fingerboard as well?

Hi Marc.
As Collin has indicated, Scratch-X and Zymol are two of the products that many forum members have had success with. Just to clarify, however, Scratch-X is very effective in removing pick scratches and buffer whirls and should be used prior to the Zymol cleaner/wax. If, however, you don't have any of those on your instrument or you only want to give it a polish just use the Zymol.
I'd suggest seeking some further advice or search the forum if you decide to use the products - Scratch-X in particular.
Happy rubbing!!

Unless the finish already has swirls and scratches, just wiping your bass down after use with a soft, dry cotton cloth may be enough.
As for straps, I like the plain, black nylon straps. They are inexpensive. Durable (get the ones with the leather ends). and black goes with everything.

Ditto on the Scratch-X and Zymol.
Use any strap that makes you feel good. A lot of people invest in a set of strap locks too, which prevent the guitar from leaving the strap until you wish it to.

Aren't standard Rick guitar strap buttons compatible with schaller strap locks?

Yes, they are sized for Schaller strap locks. My favorite strap with my Rick guitars is a Vox Python. I've seen pictures of John Entwhistle using one with his basses.
