I just got my brand-new 381 from Pick of the Ricks. Chris did the setup and this baby looks and plays like a million. It must be the finest 12 string ever made. I love the MB finish. It reminds me of the old tobacco burst style I used to see on guitars as a kid (50's and 60's). I traded my turquoise 360/12v64, so now my Rick collection consists of the new 381/12 and a 98 1997 in fireglo. What more could I ask? (I know..what a dumb question!)

Jaybyrd: Each time I hear of an instrument in Montezuma Brown finish my heart skips a beat and my limbic system goes into overdrive.
Nothwithstanding all the great finishes RIC has made, this Montezuma Brown (how cool is this name anyway) takes us back to the early beginnings of Rickenbacker. Its earthy tones really complement the RIC fretboard.
This is my dream colour and, as you have so nicely pointed out, really reminds me of the late 1950s and early 1960s. Shakin all over!

Jaybyrd, you lucky devil. I saw the photos of that guitar on the Pick website and thought more than twice about shelling out for it. It's a gorgeous guitar. And I totally agree with Peter: Montezuma Brown is a wonderful, rich, and timeless finish. I'm also partial to the 381 body style, so that particular combination of finish and model is just unbeatable in my view. Any photos, Jay? How does the sound compare to your previous 12 string?

John, surprisingly the sound is better than my 360/12v64, but I can't tell you why. I was also surprised by the color. By the photos I saw I was expecting a more chocolatey brown, but in real life it is more of a reddish brown. But either way it is beautiful and by far my favorite color combo of all the Rick stuff. I am going to make some pix of my own and post them soon....or at least try. I'm so proud of it. Chris Clayton at POR really treated me right on this guitar. The delivery was fast and his setup is superb. He is A-OK in my book.

IMO that's perhaps the best body style to put a burst finish on - congrats!

Why is it when I click on your link it says I am not authorized to view that page?

Jeff, it has done me that way a couple of times, too, when I checked it to make sure it was working. Anytime it does that just copy and paste the address into another window (or into the one you have open) and it should work. Sorry about that.
