This is a slightly different version of the "Revolution" promo film. It features a longer intro section and some different background vocals. Anybody know who did the count off(in)?

This is the version with the live vocals. The video that's more common is completely overdubbed.

I wonder which one actually came out in 1968 - is the overdubbed video a modern remake?

Dan, the overdubbed version is newer, not from 1968.
The 1968 version is the life vocals version.

But, as we see, there are two slightly different live vocals version in the web:
This one here and the one with applause in the beginning and end.
Just played them in parallel on my pc. The sound tracks are identical, they are "phasing",
but the video tracks are editet (cut) differently, sometimes there is more Lennon on the screen, sometimes not.
But it is obviously done from the same performance.

There's two takes of the '68 video.

The one witht hte clapping may be from the Smothers Bros or Sullivan show.
The one without is probably the tape they sent to all the shows.
The performance is the same.

It's a cue on the backing track, so Lennon can mime the cold intro. Geoff Emerick maybe?

Kenny, to me it's an video edit.
In the extended version, George plays in the fifth fret position, in the applause version he plays in the 12th fret position. To me this is a video edit from a later verse.
Although I can't get both audio tracks perfectly syncronised, I think, its the same vocal track in both videos.
That means: only one performance but two "video mixes" and a fake video edit in the applause version to cancel George's talking to Paul .

I woulda liked the "Shoo-Be-Do-Wa's" in the studio version. Any idea why they didn't do it, or were they just messin' around for TV?

the "Shoo-Be-Do-Wa's" come from the slow White Album version.
This puzzled me in 1968 because I saw the video before the LP was released

At 0.20 I've always thought George said to Paul "These monitors are sh*t!" anybody else tried to lip read his comment?
