O.K. first off, before you have a laugh at my expense - yes I know how rare they are and also how expensive  .

Thankfully, this kind of economy is good for people in my line of business (I'll leave you guessing).

I want one and have been looking pretty seriously for about 7 or 8 years now.

Anyone want to make some bread or point me to where I can make a score?

I KNOW one of you has this information and I have ways of making you speak (another perk of my job  )

All I'm saying is that it's best to just come forward with the information. Nobody needs to get hurt

Ah, bummer--the one at CME finally sold (it appears). Was a nice one too, aside from the bad buckle wear in the back.

I think they were down to $28K last time I heard, too.

Of COURSE Graham just got one. That guy seems to have magical spirits looking over his shoulder. Either that or connections in low places

I knew about the one at CME but I would never buy a guitar from that place.

I met a guy Friday evening at Midway Airport in Chicago who had an Ovation Deacon guitar with him. We got to talking and he was a local Chicagoan that is interested in getting a Rick and he asked me about CME; I gladly gave him the lowdown on them.

I wouldn't say I was burned by CME, but the transaction was NOT pleasureable and quite costly; more ineptitude than outright mendacity (though I wouldn't rule that out entirely). They've had a '66 365OS FG for nearly two years now that I lust after. Last I heard it was $10,000. Does anybody have any info on it or played it? Seems to have been there for a long time and it sure looks nice in the photo.

That's at least a couple grand overpriced, IMO. (In fact, I recently sold a similar one for far less than that...)

Just assume, if it's CME.....the price is insane, and it isn't going down. Plus your transaction will never be pleasureable, I've never heard of one person who had a great experience with them. I wonder how they stay in business...

Collin,

I think the CME price is quite reasonable! :D

Maybe this is a different thread, but what do you think a 365OS is worth? I bought one last year and though I paid more than I wanted to but you do not see them often. Mine is a '66, and CME had a '68 about two years ago that they were asking at least $10,000 (don't know what they actually sold it for). I think $7000+ is a reasonable price, but I'm only going by the relative scarcity of them relative to how desireable they are.

I would ask that we keep our personal concerns with or comments about dealers off the RRF board. These matters are best dealt with by contacting the dealer directly.

This whole past year, I've seen them run between $6500 and $8500, with a few examples above that last figure. This includes early models, before they were designated "OS", with gold pickguards etc. I'd agree with your 7K guess, but of course...it depends on the guitar, year, condition, color etc.
