Hello I'm sorry maybe my english is not good (I'm Italian) and I'm new on this forum.
I recognized a problem with my 4003 (year > 2003).
One day I found the bridge pickup dead so i went to my favourite luthiers to rewind it.
but actually it's not sounding like before, the sound seems to much rich of treble with lack of punch and less definiton than before...
I tried to balance the pickup moving up (close to the strings) the neck pu and then searching the better position for bridge pickup but it still sound "no like before".
But to tell the truth from the beginning I experienced (like a lot of people) the E Low low volume problem.

I read on the forum about the magic pu of Silva do you all suggest me to buy a couple of this pu???
I loved like my bass sounded :(

and sorry another question :
I think the bridge of 4003 has limited settings what d'you think about this : http://store.hipshotproducts.com/cart.p ... tail&p=215 ?

And finally,I will be glad to everyone help me to set a 4003 with the lowest string action and no buzz.

Thank you for pay attention, I hope to don't bore you guys
(ric rules!)

It sure sounds like this pickup was rewound with heavier wire, or to a lower number of #44 wire turns. Rewinding it yet again to original specs is the answer.

The softer-sounding low E problem can be addressed by raising the low E polepiece a little - not easy to do, I know - or by lowering the E string itself at the bridge - not easy to do either - or by installing a heavier E string. A modern high-gain pickup with the adjustable polepieces would be the perfect solution, of course.
