...for another Rickenbacker!?!

A 12-string specifically, probably a 360 FG.
What can you get a 12 string for these days? I have the fever now, it's terrible.

Look in the used market places, and be ready to jump when that one great score shows up....a guy recently scored a JL 355/12 in the mid-teens. There are deals out there.
New orders, not so much.

Buy used or find one at a shop.
Check eBay, Gbase, Craigslist. Price really depends on the model you want, too.

That's good advice. I'll start saving my pennies. I'm going to try to get a 360/12, but I wouldn't rule out a 330 or 620 if one came availible.

Id say you could probably find a used 330 or 620 for around 13-1500 and a 360 for 14-1700. New ones generally go for around 70% of list, around 1750 for the 330 and around 2050-2100 for the 360.

360/12's are in good supply right now, but don't wait; there's been a 2-year backlog on these models. You could finance one on a no-interest credit card, and probably have it for 12 months with those terms. And with the economy in the shape that it's in, perhaps you could find a dealer who would work with you on a payment schedule. Pick of the Ricks will give you 3 months, interest-free, assuming you meet the criteria to qualify. They presently have a beautiful FG and MG in stock.
Where there's a will, there's a way.

Never mind, see the next post 'cause you asked about 12 strings, not 6 stings. They are slightly different...

Sorry, you asked about
12 strings.
Ebay 2009 price ranges:
360/12: $1390 for a poor old beat-up gal to $2841 for a 07 FG VP. Eleven tracked for an average price of $1351 (which is low) but keep in mind that is of all years and conditions. A good one looks to still run around $1800 used.
620/12: Fantastic '97 with a flamed body for $1250 to a '02 MIB for $1020. Lowest I have on record (and I'm not extensive by any means) is $899 for a water damaged one (eww). I do not see 620/12's come up that often on ebay.
330/12: pretty narrow range of $1355 to $1590. A 2008 FG "new" for $1590 and 08 MG "new" for $1355, including Shipping. I know of a new 330/12 JG that can be had for $1550.
Hope that helps.

That's a nice price.

Thanks, that's a big help. I'm saving right now. When I get enough I will post an ad on the wanted section.
If anyone has a 12 string they want to sell in installments, ie... i pay a certain amount per month/week and you keep the guitar until it's paid, pm me.

Guitars are very much a personal preference so please take what I say (as a nobody newbie) with a grain of salt. However, with prices they way they are, there have been some mighty fine deals come up lately on 660/12's too (as low as $1500).
I started out with a 360/12 and loved the sound but could not get the hang of the 41mm neck. For me the 44mm neck of the 660/12, and the different neck profile, made all the differnce in the world in playabilty. Then again, I am sure
my playability may have had something to do with it.
To me (and again what do I know, I've played Ric's for all of a year) the sound of the 660/12 does not
quite have the chime of the hollow bodies but with the toasters it gets pretty dang close. Also, I really enjoyed playing the 360/12 unplugged as much as plugged, so that's and added benefit too.
Also, for some reason I still can't guite figure out, the 360 body/neck length was a bit more cumfy for me to play. I feel the need to woist the 660 out to the left more to feel comfortable with the neck almost as if I wish the neck were longer. However, at least I can hear the cords now and not a bunch of muted string sound.

This all probably means I would not enjoy a 325 neck either. Oh, well. There is always the 350 V63 Liverpool.
I would flip if RIC did a 360/12 with a 660/12 style neck - that'd look stupid though wouldn't it? Or would it?
Both are mighty fine guitars and tons of people the world over thoughout the ages of Rock have made the 360/12 work. I just could never get an open cord to work very well on a 360/12, which believe me was a huge disapointment. And yes, for what it is worth I tried the RM tricks but did not try a guitar nut adjustment.
You probably aready knew this stuff but I couldn't help laying my 400 Dong (2 cents) out there.
I've had enough fun with smilies for today - Good luck and good hunting!

Save as much as you can. Cash is King in this economy.
I picked up a 36012v64 at Guitar Center in San Diego last month for $1650 out the door. I think Guitar Center is out of touch on Rickenbackers because they don't carry them as a brand.
If you save up some cash you'll have choices. I agree that guitar models and types are very much a personal preference for the player, one size does not fit all, so choices are good.
There are deals out there.

And I thought the 1999 FG 360/12 V64 that sold the other day on ebay for $1831 was a good deal!
You'd think that being a So Cal GC that would know what a Rickenbacker is.
That gives you an idea what they gave someone for it.

Rick,
I thought that exact same thing.

There's a new 360/12 JG for $1440.00 at one of my local shops. I was pretty shocked at that price... don't have the money now, but maybe this summer, if it's still there.
