Would it be possible to wire a 330 with a stereo output jack that would act as mono with a regular cord? So that you could get ric-o-soundesque functionality but keep the stock appearance.

Don't know about the mono cord usage, but I once wired a 330/12 for stereo and loved it. At the RIC 75th, there were no Ric-o-sound units handy so I just plugged a mono cable in. Of course only the bridge pu sounded, but that's usually all people want to hear anyway, the philistines. *ducks and runs*

So, could you wire a 330 for stereo, and if using one amp, simply use a 1/4" stereo to mono cable? or use a splitter into an amp with 2 inputs, like a Bassman?

With a single output jack, you can't really wire it to be stereo (1 pickup to each "channel") and then get both pickups to go out on a mono cable. You'll only get one of the pickups on the mono cable. You can, however add a switch somewhere on the guitar that will allow you to do this. Or, you could always use a stereo cable and get a stereo to mono adapter that connects the two stereo channels together into a mono plug.

So, in answer to your question, yes, if you rewire using a stereo jack, you can use a stereo to mono cable or adapter for a single channel amp or a splitter for a two channel amp.

That would be my suggestion. Sort of reverse "Ric-O-Sound"...

So basically... I would install a stereo jack, and route the wires something like:

Neck PU-->Vol-->Tone-->Toggle Switch-->Right Stereo lug
Bridge PU-->Vol-->Tone-->Toggle Switch-->Left Stereo lug

So that if I was using a stereo to mono cable, everything would be the same as a stock 330. But if I had a splitter cable going to two amps, I could still use the pickup selector to select which amp, or both, I wanted to go through. Do I understand this correctly, is it doable?

Sounds right - I did this with my 4001V63. I tried using just a mono-stereo adapter from Radio-Hack, but it was cheaply made and easily broke. Plus, it protruded from the jack - easy to knock it off. The solution was either to run a stereo cable from the guitar and put the adapter on the amp input or build a better mousetrap. I made a short 8" cable with the proper ends - problem solved. I think either Hosa or LiveWire makes something similar "ready to go", but it was easy enough for me to whip out the soldering iron and do it myself.

Now I can run straight into a Ric-O-Sound box for 2 amps, or use the adapter for one amp. Neat!
