This was that Mapleglo '72 that had the bleeding binding along the outer edge of the body. Restoration by Dale.

Now THAT is how I wish my 71 looked.....put in HS in there, and you've got my DREAM RIC.

The finish looks much like my Monty Brown.

Ah, but I truly LOVE the skunk stripe.
That's the era I discovered RICS and those are the ones I jones for most....with the exception of Andy's RM that is!
I've had a number of Monty's, the earlier ones had a much nicer BLEND than my 2006, but the color IMHO was a home run.
But talk about all the goodies in one package....this and Dave Pascoe's bass are two of the nicest I've seen to date.

I see you agree with me that Dave doesn't need the "e" at the end of his last name!

I was hoping you wouldn't regret it at a later time, Marc...
By the way, I broke it in at this weekends gig, since Dale delivered it on Friday afternoon set up and ready to rock.
This one may see more action than the '73.
I did try to accept it as it was in the hope of leaving it original. But all I could see was how it
could be. Dale and I discussed how the stain removal and refinish should be as minimal as possible...but with hardened body binding cracking and falling off, and after attempts to bleach the stain had failed and the only option was to remove a bunch of wood in order to keep it as a MG, I honestly think the refinish was the only solution. The fret board was not refinished, only polished up. It is a dark and really nice wood, and I haven't seen many like it.
For those who are not familiar, before and after:
