Stan: I would be interested in your most memorable radio moment, should you be able to narrow it done to one. For me it was hearing Twist and Shout by The Beatles for the first time.

I don’t know if there is any one exact moment, if you’re asking me personally about my days on the radio. There were memorable days. Being on the air the morning after Lennon was assassinated and actually on the air when the 9/11 attacks occurred. Those two days remain vivid to me.

Thanks Stan. From a listener's point of few the events you describe will be in my memory for a very long time.

When I listen to the news, talk shows, sporting events or music my radio experiences are often more vivid than those associated with television probably because of the images that I create, based on the comments made, are my own.

With television, the producer often shows us what she or he wants us to experience and this is far less rewarding for me. Many a good song or discussion has been tarnished by the background video chosen by a producer.

Sometimes I think Bill Friday was right. Just the facts madam.

Um, that's Joe Friday, to be factual, and he never actually said that. The line was, "We're only interested in the facts, Ma'am."

Peter got it half right. Half of Friday's name and half of his partner on the show. Bill Gannon (sp) was Joe's partner. Jeez, I can't believe I remember this stuff.
