Here's a Wings cover, one I don't hear much anymore, but I always liked the atmosphere on it.
Any suggestions appreciated!

I remember the tune ... not that well thou - now I gotta dig out my copy of London Town (I think that's what it was on) to do the compare thingie... But all in all pertty faithful cover as I recall.

I've never heard the original, which I think plays to my advantage since I can listen to this as a Mark Kaufman offering unbiased. Great vocals! Some of your best - quite a range covered from your baritone to falsetta. (sp?) Nice production, too. Reminds me of the White Album a little.

I think I like yours better Mark... I think the orig is a tad too muted... yours more open and airy - more to my liking. As MW said, the vocals great - personally (I'd say) every bit as good as Paul's. the little vocal run around 3:16 might need a little touch but other than that a great job!!
here is a youtube of Wings doing it...

Thanks Tom and Mark!
I strongly disagree that mine beats Paul's...I mean, really now...but he did sort of overdo the flange all over everything. This song has haunted me for years...maybe Paul should have tweaked it a bit more, because it's a bit of a throwaway for him, but it has always stuck in my head.
The flute sound is horrible...must fix that up, but this one's just a personal fun cover.
Thanks for the input!

Always liked the feeling of this song. All in all, your cover is really great, and I always love your singing, but I found myself kind of tentative through the first verses, not sure why I couldn't find the pocket until the bridge. Then I was locked in for the rest. Maybe the flutes weren't enough to carry it, or maybe the texture was too dense; the beauty of Paul's version is its clarity and transparency of tone with regard to the lilting drifting feel of the verse.
I hope that's helpful.

It is, Kira, and I think I know what's not working. first, the hideous flat flute sound...then I'm struggling a bit too much on the low part of the first verse. Finally, it's all too compressed, changing the sound for the worse.
Hope to score some listening time at home soon...look forward to critiquing rather than being critiqued!
Thanks!

Yeah, maybe that's it. Paul's sound seemed to open up for miles. Would that a function of compression?
Hope to get up something new for your perusal soon. I've got five or six in the old noodle pot but I'm not quite back up for studio work yet. Hopefully the sunny weather will vitalize me
