Ouch. I hope this isn't as bad as it looks.

Just saw this pop up on ebay. Interesting idea, but do you really have to drill new screws holes that couldn't be covered up by the original pickups? I wonder what it looks like underneath?

That's almost cool. Seems kinda ridiculous though, if you want a Telecaster sound, buy a Tele. Don't screw with your Rickenbacker.

Reminds me a bit of a Surfcaster.

Reminds me of the kitchen table we had in '55.

There are a dozen ways to accomplish this functionally and with some panache.

This is NOT one of them.

So tasteful. Are they having a sale on MOTO somewhere lately?

At least the seller has started the bidding at a sensible number ($350) ... we've seen too many like this which the seller thinks the 'improvements' merit a doubling in the list price ... :D

Yeah, and it came in 4" X 6" pieces, just like the one on this RIC.

OK.....I don't get it. I just don't get it. I mean I know you can hotrod electrics eleventy-two thousand, 300 jillion-bazillion, 474 and a half different ways....but if all you want is a Fender, BUY one for cryin' out loud. This geetar is neither fish nor fowl.

Swap out high gains for toasters on a Rick; OK I understand that. Swap out humbuckers for P-90s on a Gibson; yup, I'm cool with that, too. Mix'n'match parts from a Strat and a Tele so you have your own Frankenfender....yeah, OK...I suppose. (Although this starts to stretch my imagination a little. If I were a Fender freak, I'd have one of each rather than such a Frankenfender.)

Have I missed something between the mid-1970s and the middle of this decade while I was out playing unamplified folk music?

I would think the seller of the above Frankenbacker would be lucky if he recovered his costs.

OK....It's time for me to resume my meds, now. I'll be OK....honest....trust me. Really.

Just a little bit more trivia...the guitars knobs appear to be the Chicken Head style used on Fender Tweed amps.

I wouldn't say this is the ideal modification.......but at least it's a 650. Not that there is anything wrong with a 650D, but it's one of the cheapest, least-loved Rics out there (next to the 200 series...which really were Fender-esque), its not like a rare vintage Ric was hacked up...

And that square pick guard (?) appears to be cut from a scrap of old floor tile from one of my upstairs bedrooms that the seller fished out of my trashcan!

I think giving the owner a urinalysis would reveal the true story behind this modification
