One of the benefits of the GFC has been increased competition for passengers between airlines on the Australia - US route, so much so that we couldn't resist the temptation when I saw the Melbourne - New York return fare.

So we are off to NYC in October. The day after arrival we set off for Nova Scotia for 7 days, then back to NYC for a week.

We have been to NYC once before in 2006, and didn't really give ourselves enough time, so this will give us another chance to see those things we missed. I might even try to hire a board etc and have a surf on Long Island !!!

It's going to be a slow four months.

Sounds like a really great time Shane. I've been to LI for a couple weeks and there were never big enough waves to surf - that was late November though. Maybe John B or other NYers can weigh in on this.
