Oh boy! Moms Mabley....WOW! And Mrs. Miller.......sheesh! There's enough to send a whole generation lookin' for something to smoke and forget about it.
Reminds me of when my old band was just forming. A friend of one of the members said he "knew this GREAT singer", so with nothing to lose we had her stop by. Not knowing what to play, I started up "Twist and Shout"....... and she joined in.... boy did she ever.
In a TOTALLY OPERATIC voice she crooned... "WEEEELLLL, SHAKE IT UPPPP, BBBABY..... NOW!"
I had to turn my back to her I was laughing so hard.

Kent, I can't fathom an ego that huge to pull something like that off. He's gotta be thinking he's nailing it, but.....

Mrs. Miller got famous for attending all the CBS shows in the Farifax area where CBS Television City still lies. Some studio dork thought it would be a slick move to have her as a guest on a show because she was loud, outspoken and belligerant. By the mid-70's, she was still a fixture attending CBS TV shows when I was a page. She was a nasty, cruel to everyone that recognized her, wanted special attention etc. Needless to say, she treated us the same way and we couldn't stand her.
Mom's Mabley - The first time I ever saw her I must have been 8 yrs old, or something like that. I had come home from school and turned on the Mike Douglas Show, I think, and she started her routine. All's I remember was a joke I've never forrgot, "You know how the Chinese name their children......they throw a set of silverware down the stairs and name them after the sounds - ching, chang, chong..." At 8 yrs old I about peed my pants.
