New kid in town - 360/12V64

This morning at around 11:30, I was in the shower at my grandma's after cutting the grass, when my dad walked in with a FedEX box from Jdog. I opened it up to find a 360/12V64 from 1987! I couldn't believe how great it looked!

I plugged into a practice amp (Fender Frontman 15G) I had over at my grandma's (I can't get large orders out in the sticks) and was impressed. Before I head off into a world of playing, I thought I'd post some snaps I took a few minutes ago...

Wow! Looks great. Nicely matched fireglos. I'm glad it arrived safe (finally!) and you're already enjoying it. Once again, another one I can't believe I sold!!!

Haha, you should be GLAD you sold it, Jdog...it's made me a happy guy today. I've been playing it for the last hour, and I'm enjoying it. (my first song played was "Anyway Anyhow Anywhere" by The Who) I enjoyed doing business with you, and can't believe I own such a fine instrument.

And now, a review of all the 12-string I've owned so far:

'03 360/12 FG (owned May '04-April '07) - chunky neck and super cramped at the nut...I never really got the sound I wanted to from it, and while it became my main instrument from June '04-June '05, I never really liked the way it played. The 24-fret neck just didn't do it for me. From June '05-March '07, it became my backup guitar. It was then sold it to a friend in April '07 (who was "forced" to sell it with the economy in April '08, if you will) to get...

'91 660/12TP JG (owned June '07-March '09) - had one of the best necks for a 12-string. Not too wide (like a Vox or Gibson 12-string) and not too narrow (like the '03 360/12). Played great, sustain was amazing, but the body was too small for my large outer frame. It literally was given to me at my first onstage gig. When I had about $1.5k, my dad helped me out to give me some more money to purchase it from a Dallas GC (and they were selling it for $2k!). I was forced to sell it in order to aquire my 1997SPC...I will always remember that guitar, and hope that I can get another one like it (or better, a '91 FG!) "When the Time Comes" (TP pun here!)

But nothing kicks more butt than today's:

'87 360/12V64 FG - the BEST playing 12-string I've owned so far, and the best sounding. The hollow body (running through a Fender tube amp with compression) really speaks to me. Nails everything I want it to and more. Like the 1997SPC, it's a guitar that is more than likely going to be with me for a long, LONG time. Sure, the neck width at the neck is a little cramped, so it will take some getting used to. If it bugs me enough, I'll get a recent 330/12 nut, but for now, it's staying as is!

Thanks again, Jdog! :)

Nice pair there, Jake!

Question -- what happened to that "project" to make a 12-string out of the 6-string that took the nasty fall ?
Is it still in the works ?
