Who likes The Eagles?

I like 'em, especially Don Henley and Joe Walsh. My favorite Eagles tunes are "Witchy Woman", "Hotel California", "The Long Run" and "Victim of Love"

They are one of my favourite American bands. They are tremendous musicians, songwriters and singers. It's too bad they don't always get along.

What's an occasional screaming match and fist-fight between friends?

I could go my whole life without hearing an Eagles song again and I'd die happy, but hey, that's why they make chocolate, AND vanilla.

You know I have similar thoughts about some of their early stuff Nick. Some songs got overplayed to the point where I never want to hear them again.

I'm reminded of the taxi scene from "The Big Lebowski'.

I like their early stuff..."Peaceful, Easy Feeling," "Lyin' Eyes," (which I've arranged in a very Byrdsy style). Can't remember whether "Desperado" is in that period, or not. But that's another one I like. Oh, and "Tequila Sunrise" is good.

Yeah, these are probably the overplayed ones. I thought I was lucky to hear these at all at the time (mid-'70s) 'cause I was really busy discovering folk music and listening more and more to the likes of Doc Watson, David Bromberg, Mississippi John Hurt, Blind Willie McTell, Blind Blake, Lightnin' Hopkins, Brownie McGee & Sonny Terry...the list goes on.

I'm a huge fan of the Long Run album. King of Hollywood has to be one of the coolest songs ever. In The City still gives me chills, mainly because of its usage in the movie The Warriors.

I went through a huge Eagles phase in high school, right around the time of Hell Freezes Over. Still dig 'em, but rarely listen anymore.

I don't seem to listen to them much these days either, but they did have quite a few good ones, fun stuff to play. I'll add a few more of my favorites:

Life in the Last Lane
Already Gone
Take it Easy

They always make me think of my eldest brother, whose band played a few Eagles numbers when I was a little kid. We've done Eagles numbers at one or two of the So Cal jam sessions. Fun stuff. :)

Never got into them even back in the day. Too slick, not convincing rockers. Liked Henley's solo stuff though.
