Actually, that's not such a bad price considering you get free lifetime refills. Just sell it to your friends at half price, and after a few refills and you could actually make money...

Hmm...a regular bottle of Zymoel is $8.99, this product is $8,415, so that's 936 bottles of regular Zymoel, plus a few drops. How many guitars and cars do I need to polish, and how many times, in order to hit the break even point! What else can I polish with Zymoel to get my money's worth? Maybe I could go into business...guitar and auto detail?

Actually, it's more like 2925 bottles of regular Zymol. The fancy stuff is 50oz while the regular is only 16oz...

Thing is, do they just refill the bottle one at a time? Do you have to ship the same bottle back and forth?

Yeah, those fancy chemicals cost a lot. But consider this, this glaze is $168.30 per ounce, while a well known brand of printer ink, at $76.99 for 55ml works out to a mere $41.40 per ounce. So, this stuff is 4 times as expensive as printer ink, long regarded as one of the most expensive substances on earth. Of course, you don't get free refills with printer ink...

I can speak with some certainty that this pricey stuff is not used by any detail shops.

History: Ralph Lauren linked up with some Swiss chemists to devise a wax formula for the expen$ive (I've heard $150K!) black (that's JetGlo to you Rick folks) paint job on his $2 million Bugatti Atlantique, which had been entered into the 1990 Pebble Beach Invitational Concours in August of that year. The wax contained nothing but natural (we'd say "organic" these days) ingredients, among them no less than 60% triple-refined carnauba, emulsified in purified water, with no petroleum distillates.

I have never seen a blacker black than that car, which won Best of Show, and set a new standard for Pebble Beach finishes (and budgets). I counted six men in jump suits who tended to that car's finish for the two days that it was on display on The Lawn. Of course, I was impressed with this paint's quality.

The wax is marketed to antique car people who are in the million-dollar-per-car stratosphere, and who seek any advantage--however small--to help their car to win shows such as Pebble and Meadowbrook. They used to say (in the '70s, when I was in the biz) that the last 10 points of a 99-point show car's tally cost $10K each, with an additional $15K each for the last five points. It's probably quadrupled these days for shows in the top range, like Pebble. So $2K for wax makes sense to these folks, though it doesn't to me. I figure that at least $1800.00 of this $2K is hype.

Although I haven't seen it for sale in the USA, I'm sure somebody has it in stock.

The two references in the above posts in this thread are variations on this wax, at higher price points, for people with money to burn (which goes without saying!).

And I thought Renaissance Wax was pricey at 20 bucks a can

That's it, or its twin. Unfortunately, photos show "shiny", but you simply had to have seen it in person to get the full impact...

I would recommend it for guitars that have parts of the finish missing, because RW does nice things for raw wood, whereas I found that liquid polishes leave too much residue in the grain. I don't see any reason to prefer it for nice finishes, however.

But you're saving $1,084.00!

How much is it usually? I bought a bottle, along with some Scratch X at Target awhile back, but I don't recall the prices.
