Tell me this isn't crazy, I walk into FYE to buy a Queen album, come out with "Let It Roll", it was $15, I couldn't pass it up.
George was amazing on his own. "Give Me Love", too brilliant.

I always think it's interesting after a band breaks up to look at the solo endeavors of the members. George Harrison obviously made a significant contribution to The Beatles overall sound because, to me, so much of his solo work SOUNDED so much more like a Beatles song that did either McCartney's or Lennon's. Certainly not the vocal component, but the overall sound and feel of so much of his work had more a Beatles sensibility to it than I would have given him credit for when he was a Beatle. Of course, I suppose it may have been just that he was imitating/continuing a "Beatles sound"...but I'd like to think otherwise. Anyone ever feel that way too?

I've just been listening to the live cuts from Bangla Desh that are included in "Let It Roll", and I must say they sound so fantastic I barely recognized them. I might have to buy this just for
"Here Comes The Sun" and
"While My Guitar Gently Weeps". Utterly fantastic remix! It's worth it for those two alone!

Don't buy it for just those songs, Kira. There are some other greats in it, too: "My Sweet Lord", "All Things Must Pass", "Give Me Love", "This Is Love", "All Those Years Ago"...I could go on forever.

Oh, yeah, don't get me wrong - I love those other songs too. But they sound pretty much familiar on the new compilation. But what they did with the Concert for Bangla Desh material is just short of miraculous. If you ever heard the vinyl, or even compare them with the CD re-release several years ago, the difference is astonishing. I had to look them up to make sure of what I was hearing. Fantastic!

I'd recommend it to you, knowing you as I do. The only reason I would not would be if a newer, better, version was on the horizon - I don't believe that's the case. It's a very important piece of Harrison's work, as well as a great show. It's not the best audio quality, but it's still enjoyable.

Which Queen album? I'll have to check out the Harrison album. I don't have much of his stuff.

Kira,
You weren't kidding about those
Bangladesh remixes. Wow! You can even hear EC's guitar.

Somewhere I know I have the vinyl...must be in another room - I'll have to check. It's similar to when I first played the remixed
All Things Must Pass. I heard brushes on hi-hats that I had never heard before. Someone really did their homework to bring all that out. Good CD.
Hey Jake, thanks for the head's up!

My personal favorite of George's writing and performing is What Is Life? since he was so spritual in his life I think the song really meant a lot to him as well. Very moving song

One of the Harrison CD's has the backing track only of "What is Life," and I actually enjoyed listening to it (yes, a bit warped). The only other backing track I've liked to listen to is the Beach Boys "I Get Around."
