The new Beatles box set...Stereo
Mono
Upwards of $250 plus per set. Mono is more, but I haven't seen a definitive U.S. price.
All the cover work is ego friendly. No jewel cases (a la the Capital Volumes). Recycled material, which if not made into the Beatles cover work would probably come back as a McDonald's food bag. At least with the Fabz it's goin' to a better use.

So, what are the differences between the Stereo and the Mono sets? Looks to me like the stereo has a lot more music in it- is the Mono some kind of purist thing that the masses wouldn't be as attracted to? I have two ears- each hears things differently as I have stereo hearing (depth perception, source location, etc.)...why would I want Mono????
I need an education- anyone???

This article may shed a little light on the reasons for the mono set.

Thank you Dan. You look a lot like Curly.
So, if I'm just someone who enjoys the Beatles music, and consider them THE band in Rock-and-Roll history who's sound remains almost timeless, why would I want anything other than the Stereo release?
I'm not an audiophile. I'm not a purist when it comes to this sort of thing...and,sadly, I don't have unlimited funds. Is the Stereo version something I want for my own birthday gift at 50?

I think you'll be very happy with the stereo set Robert. It's going to be closer than the mono set to what we remember of the American stereo vinyl that we grew up with.

Now if only I were so easily pleased.

I'm gonna have to buy 'em both, I know ...

I'll probably continue to buy every little thing they ever release, as always, until the day I die ...
The mono releases were less commonly heard by the likes of us kids over here, although they were available to the steadfast seekers.

No jewel cases, but it looks like those covers are more than cardboard. They look like digi-paks.

Some of us grew up with the mono 45s, so that's what we remember. Also, mono albums were like $1.88 and stereo were $2.88 ... on an allowance, there was no choice if I wanted to also buy my favorite comic books ... that $1 was 8-10 comic books!

You may have had better access than I did, Gary. I saw their mono releases only very rarely in my neighborhood store.
And, yup, a dollar bought a lot of comic books and candy in those days!

I'm with Gary, mono 45s. I had 'em all. Wish I still did, and the sleeves they came in.
