Having Registered my Rick c/w Pics last October I see there has been some interest in the old girl and have been trawling through the years of RM dicussions & found them fascinating so I'll add my tuppence worth for the records.Iam no expert so here goes.

1.Purchased UK 1982 £325

2.Condition on Purchase & My alterations

Neck out of alignment though not to bad (realignment 2000)
Fingerboard Screws 1 Missing (2 Screws Replaced)
Homemade Metal Plate on Head to stop 3rd String Jumping (Removed during realignment)
Horseshoe Pickup fine for many a year but crumbled away (Replaced & not an Original 2000)

3.Under Guard/Controls it has SE or 5E written in Felt Pen have seen a similar example on this forum

4. Have no idea who the Previous owner or owners where or alterations that may have been done though she still looks good for her age.

See lies under the bed these days & is certainly not for Sale though any Queries for Info you may Require I will try my Best & finally thanks to all involved on RM discussions

It's always good to see another RM1999 appear, and as Jake posted, your bass is still looking very clean for her age. You bought yours just a year after I bought mine, and it's good to see you still have it.

As mentioned in the older posts, the lighter gauge strings work wonders on the old basses, as they lessen headstock pull, which helps neck issues, string jumping and the like. It seems you have mananged to sort the "old girl" out finally!

Did you throw out the old horseshoe?

So if these basses were made to be inferior to the 4001S of the time, why are they more popular? John Entwistle, Paul McCartney, and Chris Squire I take it?

RM1999 is the same bass as a 4001S, just the RoMo designation of said bass.
