Anybody try or use this amp?

I've been planning to ask the same question. I finally saw one in a local store the other day and it is pretty cool in person. It's surprisingly small, but when you try to pick it up, it weighs about three times as much as you think it would. Some quiet afternoon, I'm going to take a twelve into the store and see what it can do. I guess the matching cabinet isn't out yet, but it would be pretty cool on top of one of my Mini-Stack cabinets.

Yeah, they built them to compete with the "Orange" brand Tiny Terror amps.

I haven't played one personally, but punch in the name on Youtube---the sound is brilliant for the size (same goes for Tiny Terror, which I have played...)

Another competitor is the Egnater Rebel 20 amp, which I did try; it is a very nice amp! I am interested it trying it as a small bass amp for recording.

There is a review on the Night Train in the August '09 Premier Guitar. I too am curios.

I have played through one....very nice little amp for that price point. I'll avoid the temptation to drop names, but someone most of you know (with a serious collection of vintage amps) went to NAMM last year, and the Night Train is the only thing he came home with.......

Deja vu! I was just looking at that site and at that page before I went over here... I'm going to Edinburgh end of the month and love to visit some local guitar shops in the cities I visit, just to see what's happening in other cities... The Hague's not that well served with guitar shops.

I doubt the local shops here carry that brand - can't remember seeing it over here in Holland at least. Must check it out in Edinburgh!

Same here! The shop I work at just started selling them and they are HOT.

I have had an Egnater Rebel 20 for 6 months now. I use it with a 1x12 I made from an old Crate G-60 combo amp cabinet and an Emminence Tonkerlite 12 neodymium speaker. I can carry the head, cab, pedal board and guitar in 1 trip. The jokes fly when I set it up, 24"high x 18"wide x 9"deep (head and cab together). The jaws drop when it fills the pub without going through the PA. The blend able output tubes section with EL84s and 6V6s give an incredible number of tonal variations without touching the tone stack. 20W max output. This amp has good clean headroom (not great) but has a wonderful crunch when you dig in. Crank the gain and things get very wild. I have been using my Diamond compressor, MI Audio Crunch Box and MI Audio Boost and Buff pedals with it and occasionally a reissue Fender Spring reverb unit. Awesome amp. It has been my favourite for about 6 months now!

And it won't break your back or the bank. Major recommendation from me. The Rebel 30 combo must be as great with switchable channels.

I tried a Night Train today at Sam Ash through a beat up Ampeg 4-10 cabinet using one of their 4003s they had in stock, a two piece neck one built the 17th week of '09 in a gorgeous FG (nice work, Eric! ). This amp sounds great with bass and gets a nice grind and distortion when cranked. It sounds better in the Pentode setting; I wish the output taps were 8Ω and 4Ω instead of 8Ω and 16Ω, the 16Ω tap is pretty much useless for us bassists. Of course, I have a sneaking suspicion VOX didn't even think that the amp might be useful to us bottom dwellers! It gets surprisingly loud for it's very diminutive (and surprisingly heavy) size. Nice big transformers for a 15 watt amp. Definitely on my shopping list.

16Ω cabs are common for Marshall. Maybe they are common in GB.

That's a nice sounding amp. It seems very versatile too.
