Farewell to my 4001c64

The probably only 4001c64 in Holland was sold today. A non member from Rotterdam bought it. He actually likes the wider than '73 or '86 neck. I don't so we are both happy now. I didnt get the jackpot from the sale, but that was inevatable with current economy I guess. I am still trying to convince him that this is the best Rickenbacker Forum there is and he should become member. But he is not good in reading English. While making him a mug of coffee I could hear my own bass. I really enjoyed the sound. Every time I hear a Rick I know Rick is the best choice for me. This was probably the best sounding of my Ricks. But when it's not getting much playing time, it's time to look for another owner.
Here's a farewall picture:

Ah, well ... very unselfish of you to let it go to a player who loves it. That's cool, Bert!

Don't feel too bad, Bert. I loved my 4004Cii, but, like you, I just didn't get on with the wide neck on it, so off to a new owner it went.

I don't feel too bad. The bass is going to someone who
does know what a horse shoe is (I had this bass for sale for some time now and got lot of reactions from people in search for "normal" Rickenbackers without appreciation for the specialty of this bass). I'm gonna spend the money on amplification. An Ampeg SVPPRO and a Marshall 9200 (5881 power tubes) are allready on their way to my house.

I also kept the silver case which I like very much and sold the c64 with the case my '73 came in.

Life is about moving on Bert. There is little point in being reminded of something that doesn't suit you each time you play. There will be other Rickenbackers that will find their way to your house.

You must feel a little sad, but hey, a new one will be on your path!

Inevitably I guess. Though I sometimes look around (watching my Rick's) and think 6 is allready a decent number of Rick's to have. (And I'm not counting my 2 Rickenbacker amplifiers then.)
But Welcome on RRF Joep! I hope you will enjoy reading, writing and learning on this forum!
