Hello,

I am trying to get a handle on production numbers for my 1969 Rick 340 with the slant fret option. I already know that the slant fret option was first listed in catalogs starting around 1971. Can anyone give me any insight into production numbers for this guitar

I'd guess <100.

Your's is the first 340 I've seen with the option (assuming it is the black one recently on ebay), and I've only seen 3-5 360's & 360/12's...

Welcome, James.

John's one of the experts around here, so I think his numbers are pretty accurate.

In regards to assiging a value to my 1969 340 Slant Fret Rick, is Rhodes Music in PA a good place to use for an appraisal?

Thanks SO MUCH!

Professional appraisals are a sticky business. Most shops that can give an honest appraisal don't because they are in the business of selling guitars, especially consignments....more about that if you're interested.

Rhodes is a great place (though Jim prices vintage stuff a bit wild high..).

I did notice you had the guitar on Ebay at what was a very sell-able price, and then more than doubled it a day later ( :!: ).

Truth be told, the best way to appraise something is to stick it on Ebay with open bidding, and set a high reserve....see where the bids take you, and that's probably market-fair. Any appraisal you get is truly only for insurance purposes because like any collectible--it's only worth what the market will pay for it, if you're selling.....an appraisal can be way to low, or way to high even 24 hours after writing it.....you just never know.

Cool guitar though! I'd love to play a slanty one day.

I agree with Collin's perspective.
