I was watching this video of a demo of two Fuzz Faces, a red model with germanium transistors, and a Hendrix signature model (which everyone says that the red one is closer to Jimi's sound) in blue with silicon transistors. I really can't tell THAT much of a difference, but the Hendrix model sounds slightly brighter.
As we all saw in October, I took in a red Fuzz Face, and I still love it. It's got some cool FUZZ that nails the '60s Rock tone. It's versatile.

I can't really hear a difference between the two versions (so I'd take the cheaper one!).
Though....I think his rig sounded better without stepping on either one of em!

I have a red Dallas-Arbiter Fuzz Face. Guess I haven't used it in a few year. But I quite fancy the rich, warm, UNIQUE sound it provides.

+1!
I am fond of some Big Muff once in a while, though...

I think that the Flower Power era vibe got to you, Jake ... those would more likely be germanium transistors ...

I want to hear them both on at the same time!
If it had been me doing the A/B comparison, I would have worn fancier shoes.

yep, that's one of the few pedals I do use. I prefer the Russian Sovtek ones, they sound creamier (haha, if that makes any sense......maybe Creamier, a la Clapton... )

Here's my 1986 Roger Mayer Fuzz Face Classic. Man, I dig the fuzz tones this box produces. Mayer started building these in the 60's for Hendrix when Jimi was makin' a name for himself in England. Germanium transistors are top-notch. Peace, out.....Goofyfoot.

Cool! I like spaceship look of the shape, along with the wing ends that provide protection for the control knobs!

Hmmm, although the asteroid belt is mainly void of objects, this spaceship looks like it got nailed by a few of 'em! Jeezus, the top button is easy enough to find, David. No wonder they call me Goofyfoot!
