360v64 yellow fireglo

Post by wim »

Boy, I used to hate the yellowing of my 360v64 but now I think it looks royal.
I guess Paul W was right, I did mellow a bit
The thing with it was that it yellowed from cigarette smoke, on top of the usual uv yellowing.
Off course I caused that myself  - so I quit now.
Once I got that 'tobacco sunburst' off the guitar the results pleased me so much I had to take pictures and share it with the rest of the world  .

Oh, yeah! That's a Fireglo I could fall in love with...
I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...

I can't wait for mine to yellow more; it is a '98 and still has a bit of pink in it. :|

I had to overdo the contrast on the pictures in order to get the fireglo tone the guitar really has.
These Rickenbacker finishes are difficult to capture.

Yeah, you're not kiddin' the finishes are hard to capture. The pix of my Rick in the Register really suck air.

Yep, FG is difficult to capture correctly, and on top of that, I bet none of our monitors show it exactly as you see it!

The colours are unaltered, I only did brightness/contrast ratio corrections, but indeed it may seem different on your monitor than on mine.
In reality it's gorgeous, but you already know that I guess, since it's a Rickenbacker
Our brain, having stereoscopic sight when using both eyes can see a certain depth through the clear layers of finish which the camera can't capture. This is what gives Ric finishes their distinct appearance to me.
Well, that and all the shine and the contrasting bright wite scratchplate make it even more difficult for a camera to record this beauty.
When it comes to colours, nothing can beat our brain I guess.
