An old friend of mine was on Clean House tonight. They cleaned his house and got him to part with most of his guitars and comics. But not his Ric.

Smart man.

Whew! That's a relief about the Rick.

They would have received a very large forceful boot to the backside along with a firm request to vacate the premises if they tried to get rid of any of my instruments, Rick or not!

Amen, brotha! Along with an admonition not to let the door hit 'em in the oasch.

Hey, I'm a major packrat; ask my wife. But don't mess with my electronics or instruments. All the rest would be fairer game.

I SAW THAT EPISODE! You know the guy with the guitars?
I was FREAKING OUT. I was like, they BETTER not sell that at the yard sale! Do you know what that's worth?
My girlfriend was NOT AMUSED. I was literally upset!

I haven't seen that particular show, but as an avowed packrat I would have a major problem with that situation! My wife (not a packrat) sometimes watches that show "what not to wear" and I can't stand it! First the self-appointed fashionistas (one of whom wears the fugliest color combinations) ridicule the subject of the show for the week--a person they don't even know. Next they embarrass the person in front of friends and family to convince them to go along with the "makeover." And finally they force them to throw away their entire wardrobe and purchase all new clothing as though the packaging is the most important thing in life. Ugh. I really hate these shows. OK, back to guitar talk...sorry for the tangent.

Actually its my plaid shirt collection I'm worried about. And I'm sure they wouldn't like my Vans and Chucks, either. I mean, how can I live with myself looking like this?

Oh, good. Then can I have your plaid pants for an art project?

Sure, but I'll need some of your parachute pants to replace them...

I saw that episode with my wife, it was nuts. They kept pushing him, arbitrarily... "we need... 8 of the guitars for the yardsale. Do it for your son." He had a vintage Fender Mustang out on the yardsale table!! And the worst part is, if it doesn't sell, it goes to GoodWill.
We have always hated the show. You have to give up things you love for a fraction of what they are worth, in exchange for a restyling of your home that you have little to no input on, with priceless antiques and family heirlooms replaced with cheap Rooms-To-Go furniture.
And the hosts are always bizarrely pleased about selling some valuable antique for 50 bucks... or like I said, seeing it loaded on the goodwill truck.
