I've heard that two compressors with gentle settings can work better than a single compressor. Now that I have ordered JangleBox2 I'm curious about
if combining JangleBox & JangleBox2 in series could give some nice results. If not then I plan to sell my old JangleBox.

Isn't that how Roger M. got that long sustained sound on "King of the Hill"? I've rather wondered how to get that sound as an alternative to the usual distortion.

It should be interesting to see and hear, especially with both JBs. Maybe you could a/b both and then together for us. I'd be interested to hear what you get.
Use of 2 compressors-or more happens anyways when recording in the studio. Aside from what you may have in your instrument chain, the mic is compressed, the mix is compressed, the master is compressed, and if you used tape, it compressed too.

I have an FMR RNC (Really Nice Compressor) that I've used in the effects loop of my bass amp. In "really nice mode" it simulates two compressors in series. I don't have a guitar amp with an effects loop, so I've never tried this line level compressor with guitar. Actually I suppose I could try it between my boost pedal and the amp. Why didn't I think of that before?

Does anyone else have any of the FMR boxes? For the money they are pretty nice.

Jim, he may or may not be using two JBoxes, but it also sounds like the twelve may be double-tracked on those lead bits. Any time you record your twelve, double tracking is worth playing with if you have the means. Even if you play the part exactly the same with the same settings both times, there is enough slight variation that it will sort of "expand" the sound and the result is usually a good one.

When was the Jbox invented?

I heard that Steve Lasko developed a very early aptitude for electronics and invented the JangleBox at when he was only three - while all the other kids in his age group were still playing with LEGO. Unfortunately, he had to wait five more years until he was big enough to hold a twelve-string to try it out.

2 compressors? Sounds like a Wrigley's Doublemint commercial. I'm going to try this over the weekend. Will let you know.

Yeah, someday I'd like to try that.

A Janglebox (first version) is something I'm seriously jonesin' for right now. Don't want to by it new because of the high price, but if there's a used one, someone contact me. The Dyna Comp is awesome, has a great sound, but I think I'm ready for the big one.
