Rick's First Gig

Sort of an after action report here. I took the Rick out for her first public performance today. My wife Patrice & I sang "Turn, Turn, Turn" in church. We invited the congregation to sing along. And it surprised me a little to hear more than a few voices singing all the verses. It has taken me literally two years to learn that song, verses, guitar intro, break, and all. Yes I played McGuinn's break and (I have to brag) nailed it.

We also sang another song called "Living Stones" that I managed to adequately Byrdsify by stealing a riff from their version of "Chimes of Freedom."

All in all, I'm feeling pretty satisfied with the experience.

I'm late to the party, sorry.

That's great, Jim. I did TTT at a church gig about ten years ago and told the congregation if they wanted to sing along, turn to Ecclesiates chapter hmm hmm (knew it then, forgotten now). That freaked them out, that an "evil rock and roll" song had Bible words in it.

I don't find myself in churches anymore these days, but I would have loved to have been there for your performance. Congratulations on a great success with your new baby!

Eh...I wasn't at all worried about that "evil rock'n'roll" thing. I was much more interested in what everyone's reaction would be seeing me plugged in, seeing as I've built a reputation as a known heavy wood music player over the years.
