I thought this was going to be a thread about the band, Dropbox!

That DropBox computer syncing program might be be pretty cool if it works well. I haven't downloaded it. I was hoping to see an opinion on it first.

I've been using it for quite a while now - I share recordings of our Praise Team with the rest of the band through it, and use it instead of thumb drives for moving files between home and church. I've only got the basic free 2Gb, which is ample for my needs.

As far as safety is concerned, it seems ok - you have to explicitly invite people to allow access to a shared folder.

No complaints here!

David, thanks for you thoughts on Dropbox. It might be a cool way to remotely get files from a home computer or share files with others.

I would be real wary of putting any kind of files that contain personal info of ANY kind on a remote server that I did not own and know was 100% secure. Just as I would not pass any personal or financial info over a wireless link. I'm just saying...

Good advice, John. Common sense, really - but that is a commodity that seems to be in very short supply these days...
