Here's a pic of the '58 345 (back in the day) that PW is going to start on soon. It had been refinned rather poorly in red. Can't wait to see when its done.

Plus, the old owner and his "good ole boy" friends look like a boisterous pack of troublemakers, bet that thing had an interesting life!

What's the story JW?

Well, here's the story: Back in early 2006, someone posted at the Rickenbacker.com Forum that they had an older Rickenbacker guitar that might be for sale. No one followed up on it. A few months later, I was going thru the posts and i came across it. I gave it a shot. The seller was female and had not a single clue of what she had. I believe the story was that it was her step-father's, he was the guy pictured playing it. She had it and a Jerry Byrd steel guitar. I negotiated a price for the 345 Capri. I have to say that I paid a fair price for it. (I believe in Karma.) We were both happy. I received the guitar and it was in the condition that she said it was. Original except for a red enamel paint job. I stripped the finish and sent it to PW. Serial number is 3V144. One of those early batches of Capris in '58. I have a weakness for those, lol! Now, the seller...
She happens to be a NYC model. She has done recent commercials for Target and Chrysler. Very nice, beautiful and internet savvy. I can't wait to show the resurrected guitar to her. I believe it will before the year is out. (Paul?) Anyway, that is the story behind the guitar. The main problem with the guitar is that when whoever refinned it, sanded thru a couple layers of the 5 layer back. PW may have to put a new back on it or can (hopefully!) veneer the back. The back on it is 1/8", I believe. It should be "killer" when i get it back!

PS: The South? I'm not sure. The person I bought it from is from NY. I will check on it and let you know.
